Dionna, This is a great post. I loved how you incorporated diversity through your own eyes. The pictures that you used explained a lot about what diversity means to you. I loved how you broke down the definition. You described diversity as a person with many colors (white, black, Hispanic, etc.), having different religious backgrounds. Your post was very informative and very creative. I can use your definition of diversity and incorporate it into my classroom as a daily lessons. Thank you Ms. Dionna

Your video is amazing! Skin color doesn’t matter. What is important is that we respect one another and our differences. We must understand that each individual is unique and we can learn from one another. Great post enjoyed your video.
Dionna, I enjoyed your post, this post shows that the color of your skin is not an important factor because we are all equal. This video, demonstrate strength and unity among all ethnicity, color, race social economic status We are Better Together.

I loved this video! It literally brought tears to my eyes! When children move beyond simply noticing the similarities and differences they share with others, they learn how such characteristics and people’s attitudes about them have the power to make them and others feel included or excluded.

I loved your video, especially the song you chose! I love that song not only because it’s in Pocahontas and I love everything related to Disney, but because it’s the perfect song to describe diversity and the merging of different worlds. The song states “you think the only people who are people are the people who look and think like you, but if you walk the footsteps of a stranger you’ll learn thing you never knew, you never knew…”, and that is very true. “Sociologists have long pointed out that we often favor people who look like us. Now, a new study shows that that bias runs deeper still: we tend to chose friends who are genetically similar to ourselves” (Nuwer, 2014). If we only took the time to really now people and be more open to experiences we wouldn’t limit ourselves into making friends who look like us. As you have clearly stated with your video, physical characteristics such as the color of your skin or disabilities do not define who you are. Each one of us is more than what we see on the surface, we just have to discover it.

I really enjoyed watching your video it was wonderful. It showed so much about diversity and how we have came and how far we still have to go.
We has educators can teach them we may looked different and act different we are still the same. We need to come together to end all this bias and with educators can hopefully teach the children and than maybe adults can follow.

I enjoyed watching the video you created. The aspects of diversity you display covered the general parts of knowledge we learned from this course. I especially like you include different family structures. The background music is calming and nice, when I watch your video, I can slow down and rethink what I have learned in this course. You have done a good job and learned a lot from your study. Your video also remind me of the sentence written by Derman-Sparks & Edwards (2010, p.157), “we must keep on keeping on providing children strong, culturally appropriate anti-bias education and keeping faith in the possibility of positive change.” Let’s keep our journey going and strive to the equity for children growing up fully be who they are. Thanks for the sharing!

The words of the song and the colors of the wheel were so appropriate and fit your theme perfectly. I loved the words that said we all are different and if we weren’t we wouldn’t see each other.
